This is the winning piece of creative writing that was submitted for the 06/04/09 competition to Book club. This Easter Prize of a beautiful gold gilded Easter Egg is on its way and thank you all for your submissions.
The illegal use of recreational drugs are a big concern, to every country in the world and this issue is been recognized by world leaders. A long time ago medicines were used to cure varied ailments in their use to aid people; from there suffering thus also curing diseases . But now people’s misuse of medicines for recreational purposes can mistakenly spoil them, in today’s society.
The drug culture has spread to almost every society in the world; all age groups seem to be involved from the elderly to teenagers and the very young. Because of this misuses have a huge moral and social Implication to our society and it is prudent to address these issues. We often see activities were not accustomed to taking place in public areas. It’s sad to say these effects can also spoil children perceptions. The subliminal effects can even influence children, from as early as primary school age. This is now been documented and written about, often by the media.
In countries illegal misuse of drugs make their users forget themselves. Those Involved in distributing never think of their consequences, or the harm they do to the social fabric of society. The users will do everything to appease their cravings. They break property, steeling, begging for money and even use armed force. In the extreme circumstances needless killings will accrue. Just as long as they find the thing they need, their next fix. Every day freedoms get eroded like our ability to walk alone in quiet places. One finds this can become hazardous, thus a dangerous task to consider. To partake in jogging or minimal exercise alone can become scary. To stay alone in a house one always feels there is a certain anxiety to this repression. The information been fed is, those drug addicts might pursue us and we can become there pray. So we the public should locked ourselves away in our confined dwelling space.
To stop this menace has proved an almost impossible task for law enforcement agencies. But they are doing there utmost in assigning specialized unites to brake the supply chain. But as soon as they stop one port of entry, many other ports are left undetected. This supply and demand chain continues to grow often being betrayed as exciting. Drugs will spoil people especially the young generations of a country. Eventually it Evan can erode successful economies. It is known that people who abuse themselves in this way never think of self-improvement or have the motivation for success. They use the excuse of finding there next high. Often just thinking of ways of how they may purchase their product. This interferes with the private sector and governments. An addict feels when their carvings start, they have to obtain the need and get enough of this. It forces even the most intelligent of victims with a distraction and their concentration is demised. Their ability to learning can be permanently damaged and study becomes impossible especially for the young or a student. These effects slowly create a culture where an expectancy of casualties is just expected. This happens in both the hospital and our communities and often places extra demands on doctors. It becomes a waste of precious resources and forces unprecedented numbers being admitted to causality, wasting nurse’s time in every hospital and eroding budgets.
